Vogue Arabia Unveils Lindsay Lohan On The Anniversary March Cover – Captured On The Iconic Helipad Of Dubai’s Landmark, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab
Vogue Arabia unveils its March cover story featuring Lindsay Lohan, photographed on the helipad of the iconic Burj Al Arab, 212 metres above ground, with the city she calls home as her backdrop.
After decades in the global spotlight, Lindsay Lohan reflects on her journey from child star to cultural phenomenon to a woman fully in control of her life and career. Now based in Dubai, where she moved in 2014, the actress speaks candidly about finding peace, protecting her privacy, embracing motherhood and stepping confidently into her next creative chapter.
Manuel Arnaut, Head of Editorial Content, Vogue Arabia, said: “For this anniversary issue of Vogue Arabia, we are excited to have Lindsay Lohan photographed at one of the UAE’s most iconic landmarks, the helipad of Burj Al Arab. The images are both striking and meaningful, positioning Dubai as the centre of a new world: a safe haven for global celebrities and creatives, where a diverse community has found security and opportunity. This is also a moment when Lindsay is experiencing one of the best chapters of her life, thriving both personally and in her acting career. As she mentions, she found her happiness on the other side of the world, far from Hollywood. That is the magic of Dubai.”
Reflecting on the intensity of growing up under relentless public scrutiny, Lindsay Lohan shares with Vogue Arabia: Now I look back and wonder, ‘Why didn’t anyone just go and take me out of there, protect me more?’ You don’t know how to do that yourself when you’re a teenager.”
After a breakout debut playing twins in 1998’s The Parent Trap, her status as the reigning teen queen of cinema remained unopposed with a string of hits – the 2003 body-swap comedy Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis, followed by the one-two punch of Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Mean Girls the following year. Today, with distance and clarity, she reflects on that era with grace and self-awareness.
Lindsay moved to Dubai in 2014 and still calls the city home. It’s where she found peace after years of turbulence – and it’s also where she met her husband, Kuwaiti financier Bader Shammas. “We’re so good together because he’s so calm and I’m like a firecracker,” Lohan laughs. “We have a great balance.” The couple welcomed a son named Luai in July 2023 and are hoping to expand the family soon. “Being in Dubai is very grounding,” she shares. “I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what’s most important.” Another noted difference is the privacy and the lack of prying long lenses, especially around her child. “That’s a big breath of fresh air, having to not overthink everything you do every second.”
On stepping into a new era of creative control and confidence, she explains: “With age comes a different kind of confidence. When I was younger, I wasn’t so comfortable saying how I felt about a character and being involved with the process of it. And I love that part now.”
Now returning to the screen on her own terms including executive producing her recent projects and starring in the upcoming series Count My Lies, Lindsay is embracing roles with depth while reclaiming her creative power.
Vogue Arabia’s March issue also marks a celebratory moment for the title in the region, spotlighting optimism, new beginnings and the bold spirit of spring.
