NSO Founder Janet Hassouneh comments: ‘An exciting season lies ahead for the NSO in 2019/20, with a lively programme showcasing our commitment to working with a diverse roster of guest artists whilst also supporting the wealth of local talent. Every performance will feature musical contributions from UAE-based artists, whether a composer, solo singer or musician and I can’t think of a better opening to the season than with a dynamic performance of the classic La Dolce Vita, which perfectly sets the tone for what is to come.”
The new programme follows the NSO’s most successful season to date, with 2018/19 offering an inspiring programme of events and concerts, including the memorable Tribute to Frank Sinatra and A Night at the Movies. On a classical note, the season saw the NSO Symphony Orchestra and Chorus accompanying famed tenor Andrea Bocelli in the Al Tanoora Winter Festival in Al Ula, KSA, and the NSO’s Russian Symphonic Classics featuring some of the world’s most famous Russian orchestral masterpieces. Other special events included hosting an exciting exhibition by multi-talented Emirati artists Eman Al Hashmi and Ahmed Al Hosani.
Committed to becoming the region’s leading orchestra, NSO is made up of more than 100 musicians of some 20 nationalities, who live in six of the seven emirates, and promotes music within the UAE for current and future generations of Emirati nationals, residents and visitors. It is a cultural ambassador for the UAE, in support of the government’s vision for 2030, by contributing to a knowledge-based economy, continuing strong and diverse international relationships, while maintaining the nation’s values, culture and heritage.
