Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation Makes Its Mark At The London Book Fair 2018
For the tenth consecutive year, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) is showcasing its projects, initiatives and publications at the 47th London Book Fair, held in the British capital on April 10-12, 2018.
The Foundation will be hosting a series of events and activities, including workshops, symposia, and meetings with international publishing houses, in addition to launching a range of publications by leading Arab authors. Furthermore, it will be using its participation as a platform to shed light on advanced electronic applications in the knowledge development sectors, and showcasing activities and initiatives undertaken by its affiliate, Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution.
The main objective from taking part in the international event is to bolster MBRF’s international presence in the publishing and knowledge production sectors, as well as to promote its projects, and foster stronger partnerships with decision makers from the international publishing industry.
MBRF’s CEO His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb said: “The London Book Fair has established itself over the decades as a world-class platform that brings together the most prominent of intellectuals, writers, knowledge-makers, and experts in the publishing and distribution sectors from around the world. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest developments in these sectors, and to build bridges between the diverse cultures represented at the fair.”
“The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation is committed to participating in the London Book Fair – and has done so continuously for the past decade – to bolster its global presence within the knowledge and development sectors, and to showcase its initiatives and projects that seek to build knowledge-centric societies and support human development across the globe,” H.E. added.
During the exhibition, the Foundation will be organising a series of seminars entitled “Youth and Literature in the UAE”, where the spotlight will be placed on the Dubai International Writing Program and its resulting publications, while a separate discussion explores electronic and digital publishing.
Furthermore, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), will collaborate with MBRF to host workshops on the Arab Reading Index, the Global Knowledge Index, and the Arab Knowledge Project’s smart application. The Foundation will also be holding a number of meetings with Arab and international publishing houses, and distributing publications by Qindeel Printing, Publishing and Distribution.
This year’s edition of the London Book Fair brings together more than 25,000 publishers, writers, and translators from 118 countries around the world, in addition to experts in copyright, content production and distribution, television, film, and digital platforms.
