Institute Of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Conference Opens In Dubai
The world’s largest internal auditor summit kicks off in Dubai today, running from May 7-9, held under the patronage of is His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The four-day Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Conference 2018 will be held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center under the theme “Connecting the World Through Innovation”, with the participation of some 3,000 experts from the global internal audit industry.
HE Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, will officially open the conference on Monday with his session on Global Issues Impacting Business.
Speakers at the conference include a number of senior officials, such as: HE Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties; Abdullah al-Rowais, Chief Audit Executive, Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily), Saudi Arabia; and Tanmay Bakshi, software developer, algorithmist, honorary IBM Cloud advisor.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Supreme Fiscal Committee in Dubai, stressed the importance of this summit in promoting policies and standards to move the national economy forward to further leadership and globalization. He said: “Dubai once again demonstrates that it has the ability to host global conferences that will achieve the great goal of strengthening the UAE’s efforts to become one of the most intelligent economies in the world. In line with the theme of ‘Connecting the World Through Innovation’ Dubai is also striving to become the world’s smartest city in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“Internal auditors in the UAE and the region will be able to learn about the best practices and solutions from experts and leaders on how to address the challenges facing the industry, and how to contribute to corporate governance, fraud detection and compliance, which will enhance the credibility and efficiency of institutions. ”
The 2018 conference will be the first time topics will be discussed in Arabic. The event highlights key issues and challenges facing the global internal audit industry, including digital transformation, business sustainability, emerging concepts of governance, risk management, fraud and corruption and information security.
Richard Chambers, president of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), said the first hosting of the IIA International Conference in the Middle East UAE comes as a result of the UAE’s continued efforts, dynamism and leadership in applying governance and fighting fraud and corruption, in line with the country’s efforts to put the UAE at the top of the global leader board for smart governments.
