Hala And Careem’s Partnership With UNICEF Raises AED735k To Aid India’s Battle Against Covid-19

On May 10th, Hala and Careem announced they were joining forces to support India, by donating 1 AED per ride to UNICEF’s India Covid Relief Fund.

The money, raised in partnership with UNICEF, will be donated to the UNICEF India Covid Relief Fund, and will be directly used to bring lifesaving oxygen and rapid PCR tests to people in need in India.

With shared values of giving back, and supporting lives within the region, the initiative was the combined response of Hala and Careem, in the wake of the devastating wave of Covid cases in India, with total infections reaching over 25 million.

Together with customer donations made directly through the Careem Super app, the 1 AED donation for every Hala and Careem ride or food order in the UAE, has raised over AED 735k.

I feel incredibly proud that we have been able to live that promise at a time of need, and support a country that so many of our Captains, customers and colleagues call home. We are truly grateful to every one of our riders who has supported this initiative by taking a trip. I sincerely hope they share our pride in the difference it will make to those in need.”
