Dubai Culture Participates In ‘Abu Dhabi International Book Fair’
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has successfully concluded its participation in the ‘Abu Dhabi International Book Fair,’ where the Authority was represented by the Dubai Public Library from 25th April to 1st May.
The exhibition was an ideal platform for the Dubai Public Library to showcase its unique collections of books and publications, while also enriching attendees experience via a variety of programmes and events. The Dubai Public Library stand attracted over 1,000 visitors including writers, intellectuals and cultural figures, who offered insight into the enhancement of the library’s branches. The stand also provided a variety of cultural programmes that highlighted the importance of reading and motivated attendees to make reading an integral part of their daily lives.
The Dubai Public Library is committed to taking part in national events that promote reading in line with the UAE’s ‘National Strategy for Reading’ and allow representatives to meet with publishers to explore potential cooperation opportunities.
The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children. Some branches feature multi-purpose halls, classrooms and exhibition spaces and all branches of the Dubai Public Library are connected via computer systems. This has established close links with other modern libraries, providing access to vast sources of information on a diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
