CAFU, Dubai Born On Demand Car Services Start-Up Announces New Partnership With RoadSafetyUAE To Launch Year Long Road Safety Campaign

With an increase in road traffic accidents during the holy month of Ramadan, CAFU announces a new partnership with RoadSafetyUAE to launch a year-long campaign aimed at making the roads of the UAE safer, saving lives, and reducing injuries caused by accidents.

The partnership brings together two champions of the road who are focused on the safety of the community by maintaining safer roads and travelling of the residents and citizens of the UAE. With over 1,400 minor accidents recorded during the first week of Ramadan alone, it is a stark reminder of the need to raise awareness of travelling safely on the country’s road network.

With peak accident timings during Ramadan being around the pre-Iftar period of between 2pm to 5pm, as well as the morning rush period of between 8am and 10am, drivers need to take extra care when travelling on the roads. To coincide with this period, the first part of the new campaign, #RoadSafeTogether, will focus on the Ramadan period.

CAFU’s focus is to make life better for the community. The 12-monthlong campaign will see the development of a series of awareness raising initiatives developed through the partnership with the aim to reduce both injuries and fatalities on the road. Deaths on the road are the number two reason for the cause of death in the UAE, second only to cardiovascular disease, and is sadly also the number one cause for death of children below the age of 15, making it a key priority for awareness.

Safety is of paramount importance for CAFU across its operations with the company’s commitment demonstrated through the achievement of ISO 39001, the ‘gold standard’ in global ‘Road Traffic Management System’. The global standard specifies requirements for a road traffic safety management system to enable an organization that interacts with the road traffic system to reduce death and serious injuries related to road traffic crashes which it can influence.

This CAFU commitment to safety goes beyond just its operations, it goes further to keeping our communities safe whilst on the road.

Commenting on the new partnership between CAFU and RoadSafetyUAE, Ryan Rogers, Head of Operations at CAFU said, “With our commitment to safety combined with our purpose of making life better for our community, the partnership between CAFU and RoadSafetyUAEis focused around our shared goal for maintaining safety on our roads. Through the power of this partnership, we are coming together to solve the problem of avoidable road traffic accidents, reducing both injuries and deaths in our community. By working together, we are helping to create better driver awareness, more informed around driving safely, and helping to create safer communities.”

“A lot of the accidents that take place on the roads, come down to poor and reckless behaviour such as rash driving or not following basic practices like proper mirror checks before changing lanes, or even a simple lack of awareness and action, such as not knowing when and how to check our tires and notice when it needs a change, particularly during the summer months. The good news is that this is preventable with the right action and attitude”, said Thomas Edelmann, Founder and CEO of RoadSafetyUAE.

“With more and more cars returning to the roads, we need to be prepared to keep our residents safe on the roads – and that can only happen when the members of our community, from residents through to organizations such as CAFU, helping to bring about that change” added Edelmann.

Over the course of the #RoadSafeTogether campaign, CAFU will be working with RoadSafetyUAE to develop the following initiatives:

  • Educational awareness initiatives to promote safer driving practices focusing on some of the main causes of deaths on the road caused by sudden swerving (21 percent), speeding (12 percent), and tailgating (11 percent).
  • Car maintenance tips and expert advice to follow to maintain a high level of safety with the operation of a vehicle.
  • Tyre health check safety campaign during the summer months which is a cause of over 2 percent of all deaths caused by poor tyre health.
  • CAFU operational excellence and best industry practices gained from CAFU pilots and personnel.
  • Child on board safety awareness initiative with the aim to reduce deaths and injuries of children under the age of 15.

Both organisations will be rolling out a series of content and activations over the coming months for citizens and residents to benefit from, under the hashtag and call-to-action #RoadSafeTogether.
