The Information City, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, with its strategic partner MTN inaugurates the new year 2021 by dedicating a number of humanitarian and social initiatives, as it has promised over the past fifteen years. The Information City emphasized through those initiatives its determination to continue its efforts in light of the difficult circumstances imposed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our long journey in protecting all segments of the community embodies the highest meanings of giving and cooperation on the social, educational and health levels. We are continuing our charitable journey with the help of our strategic partner DP World and MTN, the support of governmental, humanitarian, local and global institutions, and bodies that enhance our presence. Our first initiative, “Educate a Child, Build a Nation”, witnesses our progress and strengthens our position, where we educated and trained more than 10,000 children on the latest technologies for more than six years and rewarded them with 10,000 laptops. Then we introduced the “Saada” initiative which contributed to the happiness of more than 3000 children over two years, by providing them with 3000 school bags and stationary, paying a percentage of school fees for a number of students, and donating 3000 modern laptops. The “Saada” initiative for 2021 will continue in conjunction with the “Facing the Covid-19 pandemic initiative”, Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum said.
He continued: “No doubt that our latest concerns in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic that has swept the entire world have taught us to be more persistent and strong to face all challenges and defeat them. Our records reflect that, since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, we have offered more than 150,000 masks and face shields, and 15,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, in cooperation with Unilever and Masafi, bringing the total number of distributed masks/face shields to 300,000by the end of December 2020. And to complement our awareness, humanitarian and response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are continuing this year as well our endeavors to protect visitors and residents from the Covid-19 pandemic, bringing the total number of distributed masks and face shields to 500,000 across the UAE. ”
