Dubai Business Events Confirmed As Destination Partner For IIA International Conference In Dubai
Dubai Business Events, DBE, has been confirmed as the destination partner for the Institute of Internal Auditors, IIA, International Conference 2018 in Dubai.
Set to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the four-day conference from 6th to 9th May will see some of the world’s leading business names address topics on artificial intelligence, cyber security and business disruption. The theme of the event will be “Connecting the World Through Innovation.”
DBE, the city’s official convention bureau and part of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, enjoyed its most successful year to date in 2017 with a record 212 bids and proposals and an economic impact of AED715 million. Dubai’s bids and proposals secured in 2017 marked an increase of 64 percent over the previous year, further cementing the emirate’s leading position as a global business events destination.
Issam Kazim, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said, “Business events are an important part of the tourism strategy in Dubai, bringing in delegates from around the world and often exposing the city to a new audience. They also play a crucial role in developing Dubai’s status as a knowledge hub and providing a launchpad for the growth of key sectors and professions.
“Dubai Business Events worked closely with the UAE Internal Auditors Association to bid and plan for this conference, and we look forward to welcoming delegates and ensuring the event leaves a strong legacy both for the city, the profession, and the IIA. The event, held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will be the first edition of the IIA International Conference to be held in the MENA region. An estimated 3,000 auditing professionals from more than 100 countries are expected to attend the 70 sessions.
VIP speakers will include Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties.
Other high-profile speakers include Abdullah al-Rowais, Chief Audit Executive, Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily); Claudia Olsson, Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, and the ‘youngest A.I. scientist in the world’, Tanmay Bakshi.
