DMCA Officially Launches ‘Sea Dubai’ At Dubai International Boat Show 2018
Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) unveiled the features of ‘Sea Dubai’, a key initiative for the development of the maritime leisure sector in Dubai, on the side lines of the 26th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show which will continue until March 3, 2018, at its new location, Dubai Water Canal. Visitors to the event, the largest of its kind in the maritime industry in the Middle East, praised the importance of the initiative as it paves the way to make Dubai the world’s leading destination for maritime leisure activities.
The ‘Sea Dubai’ initiative is based on a clear vision to facilitate recreational maritime activities as a key element to promote Dubai tourism sector growth, with a focus on creating high-quality tourism facilities and new jobs within the maritime leisure sector to serve the Maritime Sector Strategy, while strengthening the maritime sector and placing Dubai among the world’s most leading maritime clusters. The Dubai maritime authority team has showcased the initiative’s role in speeding up and facilitating the registration and licensing of sailing permits; the identification of specific maritime speeds; the identification of permitted tourist area to sail; the identification of places of rest; floating restaurants; marinas and yachts; as well as working with companies engaged in renting maritime crafts.
Amer Ali, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority said: “The ‘Sea Dubai’ initiative represents a continuation of the development of maritime leisure infrastructure as a key player of Dubai’s economic diversification. This ambitious initiative sets solid foundations for the regulation of maritime leisure working mechanism within local territorial waters, referring to the ambitious goals to make Dubai a leading global leisure tourism destination. The initiative will pave the way for a new phase of communication, cooperation and effective coordination among maritime leisure stakeholders, believing in the importance of activating the partnership between the public and private sectors to attract new investments to Dubai, which has taken advanced steps on top of the world’s most competitive maritime capitals.”
