Deadline For Voices Of Future Generations Competition Extended
The Emirates Literature Foundation today announced the deadline has been extended for the second annual Voices of Future Generations competition. The new deadline for submissions is 31 May 2021.
The unique writing initiative was created to promote sustainability awareness and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The regional competition is organised by the Emirates Literature Foundation on behalf of HH SheikhaHissabint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Goodwill Ambassador for the initiative for the Gulf Region.
The Voices of Future Generations team has delivered a series of more than 30 well-attended Arabic and English webinars since the competition was opened for its second year. After listening to feedback from students and teachers preparing for exams, the deadline was extended to allow more time for students to finalise their drafts.
A collection of stories written entirely by the young winners of the first Voices of Future Generations competition for the Middle East Region was recently launched at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in February. This year’s winning entries will also be illustrated, translated, and published in a second anthology early next year.
The 2021 competition is open to all children living in the Gulf region and aged between 8 and 12. Entries should be between 600 -1500 words long, and can be in either Arabic or English. The adventure stories should feature themes around children’s rights and sustainable development, and the writer’s hopes, dreams or aspirations for a sustainable future.
The submission deadline is 31 May 2021.
The competition is held under the patronage of the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, part of UNESCO’s network of national cooperating bodies. For more details, visit https://vofg.vofgarabia.org/
