MENA Gamers To Battle For Glory This Summer As Garena Launches Two Online Tournaments With Over USD 49,000 Up For Grabs
Garena is to stage two online tournaments this summer, giving another opportunity for Fire Free gamers to test themselves against the best across the Middle East and North Africa region.
Following the success of the inaugural edition earlier this year, the Free Fire Arab League will return for the second time with the tournament set to run for three and a half months between June 13 until September 26.
With the 24 teams aiming to battle for a slice of the USD $39,400 prize money, Garena will also offer appearance fees to the gamers for the first time. The appearance fees is the first-of-its-kind to be introduced by a gaming developer in the MENA’s eSports industry.
Garena will also launch its first Free Fire Arab Clash War this month. The competition has a prize fund of USD 10,000 and exclusive prizes and registrations for the tournament will be open from June 13 to 15.
The number of teams allowed to be part of the event has been capped at 896 teams with the qualifying rounds set to begin on June 19.
The Free Fire Arab League is expected to provide plenty of drama and closely-fought matches with a strong line-up confirmed.
The 24 teams will be divided into six groups with the league matches to be held from June 13 to September 12. The group winners will automatically advance to the Grand Finals on September 26 while the 12 second and third-placed teams will have another opportunity to book one the 12 final berths by competing in the Best of 8 matches in the play-offs.
Fans across the region can also witness all the action live with the Free Fire Arab League matches broadcasted every Saturday at 19:00 (GMT+2) on the official Garena Free Fire MENA YouTube channel.
As the first eSports tournament utilizing the Clash Squad format, the qualifying rounds for the Free Fire Arab Clash War tournament will be held from June 19-26, followed by the play-offs (July 3-8) and Final Stages (July 17). The Semi-Final and Grand Final is scheduled for 24 July and 1 August, respectively.
With registration to be held between June 13-15, the 896 teams will be split into eight brackets, consisting of 56 teams each. The top two sides from each bracket will advance to the play-offs with the best eight qualifying for the final stages.
Following the knockout phases in the Final Stages, the Grand Finals will see the two teams vie for glory and the inaugural title.
The two competitions are part of Garena’s commitment to promote the eSports sector in the region and provide regular opportunities for the gaming community to put their abilities and skills to the test.
The first edition of Free Fire Arab League tournament was a great success resulting in over 3 million views on Garena’s YouTube channel.
Garena aims to provide gamers opportunities to test themselves on a more regular basis through these tournaments and are committed to keep expanding the roster of tournaments in the region.
