Empower Takes Part In The Annual Partners’ Forum For ‘District Energy In Cities’ At Copenhagen
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, is taking part in the 5th Annual Partners’ Forum, organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) for its ‘District Energy in Cities’ initiative. The meeting is being held from 11-14 June 2019 at Copenhagen, Denmark.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower and Special Advisor on district cooling, will be attending the Forum in addition to a number of experts on district cooling from around the world.
Bin Shafar will take part in various panel discussions about the district cooling industry and its latest technologies, as part of the ‘District Energy in Cities’ initiative to promote the industry and support global initiatives for energy efficiency.
The ‘District Energy in Cities’ initiative aims to spread energy efficiency around the world, research the role of district cooling systems in energy and water efficiency, and introduce higher rates of renewable energy sources into cities.
“The UN Environment’s Annual Partners’ Meeting of ‘District Energy in Cities’ initiative, is a great opportunity for participants to share the latest technologies in district cooling solutions, identify major challenges in the cooling sector, and review the latest cooling solutions, technologies and innovations in district cooling,” said Bin Shafar.
“Empower aims to support sustainable development efforts in cities by enhancing the efficiency of the district cooling sector. During the meeting, partners will review the best practices adopted by the UAE in the district cooling industry, as well as ways to promote district cooling technology globally,” added Bin Shafar.
Bin Shafar stressed that Empower is one of the supporting partners of this initiative, which aims to increase the use of district cooling systems in Arab countries and across the world to increase energy efficiency, reduce harmful emissions, strengthen local and regional economies, and promote the social and environmental benefits of district cooling systems.
Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers.
