HSBC UAE Sets Guinness World Records™ Title In Diversity
344 HSBC UAE staff from 68 countries teamed up to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title to mark the official inauguration of the bank’s new headquarters, HSBC Tower.
“This achievement is a celebration of the diversity of the global banking talent at HSBC – both Emiratis and international staff – and the ambitions we have to continue to help make history here in the UAE,” Abdulfattah Sharaf, Group General Manager and CEO, HSBC UAE, said during the inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration ceremony for HSBC Tower in Downtown Dubai on 8 January 2019 also revealed that the 20-storey headquarters had secured a coveted Gold Standard for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from the Green Building Council, making it officially one of the world’s most sustainable buildings.
John Flint, Group Chief Executive, HSBC Holdings, said at the inauguration ceremony: “Investing in the Middle East to build a new world class headquarters for the UAE embodies our enduring belief in the strength of the businesses here and their place in the world. We opened the first bank in Dubai in 1946 and we are proud to have been a pioneer in the UAE’s financial story. The UAE is a market in which we want to invest and grow, bringing more of HSBC to more people.”
In June 2018, Flint announced the bank’s global strategy in which it identified the UAE as one of eight scale markets, including its traditional heartlands of Hong Kong and UK, which will drive the Group’s future revenue growth.
