2021 FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX Promoter To Build World’s Largest Lego® Brick Build Of A Formula 1® Car For Charity
The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) – Promoter of the 2021 FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX – has today announced its plan to assemble the world’s largest LEGO brick build of a Formula 1® car in aid of Ehsan – Saudi Arabia’s focal national charity. Upon successful completion, the Official Attempt will see Guinness World Records certify the SAMF as an official Record Holder.
To celebrate Formula 1® coming to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this December 3rd – 5th, SAMF announced its intention to launch this record-breaking fundraising event for Ehsan, Saudi Arabia’s National Platform for Charitable Work. Ehsan was founded in April 2020 as part of efforts to support charitable giving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across a variety of areas including social, educational, healthcare, relief, environmental, economic and technical care.
The assembly process for the LEGO brick build of the Formula 1® car will take place at Red See Mall in Jeddah and will take approximately one week to construct, starting on September 15th with the first brick to be placed by HRH Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, advisor to the governor of Makkah Region and acting Governor of Jeddah and HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF).
The last brick will be placed on September 23rd, Saudi Arabia’s National Day, when Guinness World Records Representatives will be on hand via livestream to record and certify the LEGO brick build of the Formula 1® car as the world’s largest.
What’s more, the 2021 FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX is offering the people of Saudi Arabia the chance to personally participate in the world record attempt…brick by brick!
Formula 1® fans in the Kingdom will be able to become a part of this world record-breaking attempt by visiting saudiarabiangp.com/en/lego where they can register to ‘purchase’ a brick that will be part of the final assembled LEGO brick build of an F1® car, with each donation going directly – and in full – to Ehsan. With the full construction expected to be made up of 500,000 bricks this provides a unique opportunity for hundreds of thousands of Saudi men and women to not only contribute to the national Ehsan charity but to also literally become a part of history by owning a brick on the worlds’ largest LEGO brick assembly of a Formula 1® car.
Once fans have visited saudiarabiangp.com/en/lego and registered, they will be encouraged to attend the world record activation and observe the construction of the world’s largest LEGO brick build of a Formula 1 car by LEGO certified professionals. Participant names will be displayed on a digital screen, as they write their names in history.
The world record breaking activity will take place less than three months before the FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX makes its long-awaited debut in Jeddah and the activation site will reflect the growing excitement and anticipation that is taking hold of the region as the race draws ever closer. The site will also feature display boards depicting a live percentage bar of the car’s completion status, historic F1® race statistics, driver interviews and Formula 1® content to help educate, engage and enthuse the people of Saudi Arabia in advance of the pinnacle of motorsport arriving in a few short months’ time.
In raising vital money for such a good cause, SAMF is using this exciting initiative to merge its ambition and desire for a brighter future for all Saudi citizens with the values of the 2021 FORMULA 1 SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX, all of which are in line with the Kingdom’s ground-breaking Vision 2030.
